May 2022 Happenings
We spent May 2022 prepping for life in the 19th century American frontier. 🙂
We geared up for raising chickens
My class is hatching chickens from eggs for the first time, so we headed over to the local IFA to get all the gear needed to make a little home for these cute fluffy guys:
We planted our crops
or at least got it started on it. This is just the beginning. In typical Betsy fashion…we’re going big on this project!
And we noodled out an adverse-weather-crop-protection system:
Worked like a charm….and for weeks too! (Weather is unpredictable on the frontier.)
And Jac continued to amaze and astound with his PERFECT planter boxes, with attached trellises!
Our treat after a full day of planter-box-making. YUM!!!
We prepared for living in the great outdoors
And by we, I mean Jac. Jac came up with tons of ingenious improvements for our camping experience, including sewing fabric to the top of our tent to prevent heat from escaping:
And adhering these cool lights to the top of the tent. SUCH A CLEVER MAN!!
Jac also cleaned out his office one Saturday! There’s not really a frontier related pun to go with this one, but it’s impressive nonetheless, so we are including it anyway. 🙂
At the end of the month, we did it! We tested out our camping
“idea”….and it was FUN! For memorial day weekend, we went on a road
trip to the Grand Canyon North Rim. To read about it, click here.
