June 2022 Happenings
June ROCKED! Reason #1: June is summer, and summer is the best! Reason #2: I didn’t have to go to work, and not going to work is the best. Reason #3: We spent lots of time together, and–you guessed it–spending time together is the best. 🙂
Yellowstone Adventure
For our big solo summer trip this year we went to Yellowstone National Park, and boy was that an unforgettable experience. To read about it, click here.
Home Improvements!
We started June with another visit from Super Handy Dude (SHD), saver of damsel-in-distress Betsy. During this visit, SHD put dimmers on my lights, got my ice machine working:
and –most astounding and amazing– S.H.D. rebuilt my outdoor cat enclosure in just one day, taking it from this huge original version:
to this much-more-appropriately sized version. So exciting!
Backcountry Explorations
In addition to our big June adventure to Yellowstone, we explored a little closer to home one weekend, starting with a breakfast in Heber, then a drive up the lush and peaceful Heber Canyon:
And then headed home via the equally lush and stunning Alpine Loop:
Delicious Food
Of course, through it all we ate REALLY well, like this perfect summer barbecue (which actually started as one of our “food challenges”):
And when not together…
I spent quite a bit of June starting up a new hobby — GARDENING! Mostly vegetables, but also some flowers as well (perennial pollinator companions). It started like this:
and gosh darn it….things grew!!! Whooo Haaaa! So exciting to see:
I even finally planted in the amazing flower boxes that Jac built:
Near the end of the month were able to harvest herbs already. We used them to make frozen herb & oil cubes for Jac to use in future delicious cooking:
Other than gardening, I did A LOT of organizing, and did my FINAL home purge, unloading the last bit of unwanted stuff on my poor neighbors (for free though). And just like that, the house is finally “minimalized”.
And I also did a lot of relaxing under my tree/friend. 🙂
While I spent the month lollygagging around, Jac spent the month working (ha ha, bummer!). He also managed to paint his kitchen:
prep all the food for our big Yellowstone adventure:
cook delicious food for my dad on Father’s Day:
AND get a shiny new washing machine, just in time for the water main to his house to blow. What a headache.
And what a month!
