February 2025 Happenings

February was a big project month. We’re just two project people, packing in our little Center Street lives with one project after another!  Besides projects, we did manage to:

  • ‘travel’ to Russia with a few fun activities and LOTS of great food (here)
  • I finally was able to start some seeds (garden report is here)

Besides these fun things, our busy February also included:

Project Mania
Here’s Jac, working on the MEGA grow box that will go on the west side of the house.  It’s HUGE.  Looks like a boat. 🙂

I worked on a bunch of projects too, including getting a teaching job for next school year. I don’t want this year off to end, but it’s gonna, so I might as well get that all lined up asap. I’m going to teach at the same school, but in 3rd grade instead of 1st. That’s good….I needed a change!  I’m a little excited about it, but it’s months away so I’m not doing any prep for it just yet.

We did stop the projects long enough to have a little fun in February, such as:

Super Bowl Party
We had Michael, Van and Alexa over for a Super Bowl party.

Jac made a huge feast of appetizers, which as really the big draw….not the football!

Look at these cute little appetizers. What a creative guy Jac is!

I made a contest for us to play (something to help us non-football fans be slightly interested in the game!)  Alexa won. I lost badly!

Nate Came to Town

Nate and Drew came to town one weekend in February.  Nate came a few days early and we had him and mom over for a pizza dinner:

Valentine’s Day
And, of course, there was Valentine’s Day. We didn’t want to actually go out on the town (leave the house? what?), so instead I put up a few decorations:

Jac cooked us a delicious salmon dinner:

and then we played a silly game I made for us called JBopoly (a spoof on Monopoly):

The real estate that you buy were all places we’ve been to together, and the chance cards were all funny or great or ‘bad’ things that have happened to us so far in our 3 1/2 years together.  It ended up being really fun—super full of reminiscing!

Although… it would have been more fun if Jac hadn’t absolutely MASSACRED me.  Look at the board — Jac is the army guys and I am the baby. He owned virtually all the property!!  And his ending wad of cash is thick whereas I ended in the hole.  I apparently am not a very good capitalist! 🙁

Oh well, it was fun to play (and fun to make too). More adventures with Betsy the dork, ha ha!

Jazz Game
Jac was able to get four more box seats to the Jazz, so we invited Cindy and Jerry again and went for round 2 of this super fun double date night.  This time we went early enough to enjoy the buffet before the game started:

And then we watched the game (sorta)

and ate more snacks

and drank. The drinks were free, so we didn’t hold back…

Soo much fun!  Near the end of the game, they even had a dessert buffet. I love this little tradition and hope we get to go again in another few years!

Ted Lasso
For a few weeks in February, we were totally obsessed with the Apple TV series Ted Lasso, “a heartwarming, uplifting, and optimistic show focusing on a soccer coach who, despite facing challenges, inspires those around him with his kindness, humor, and unwavering belief in people.” We LOVED it!!

In fact, we loved it so much that after we were done, we decided to make the ‘biscuits’ that the main character made each day for his boss. They were good, essentially shortbread cookies LOADED with butter.

There will be a season 4 of Ted Lasso and we can’t wait!

And of course we ate well all month
Like these two yummy meals:

What a fun month. I love us!
