January 2025 Garden Report
From now on, I will be doing a separate monthly entry called a “Garden Report” in order to better keep track of what I am doing each month in the garden. That way it will be easier to do it all again next year and beyond. I also have a spreadsheet AND a garden layout book. Hopefully, all these things put together will make future years run more smoothly because I’ll be able to refer back to what I did!
So for January…
- planning!!! I spent A LOT of hours planning this year’s garden. There was a lot more to plan this year, including moving from planting just one season (a hot summer garden) to planting three seasons (a cool spring garden, then a hot summer one, and then a cool fall garden). AND there are tons of new grow boxes to fill up as well. So exciting. I even used A.I. and it was fun!
- made plant tags — Once it was all planned, I made all the plant tags. This year I just used a sharpie since changes are surely going to happen, but next year I will use a weather resistant pen so that tags can be used from year to year.
If I use these same tags next year….I created a color system that’s working well:
- blue: direct sow
- yellow and green: start indoors
- pink: buy
- red: info to accompany tag (ie: dry, perennial…)
