June’s Tabin Adventure: City of Rocks Nat’l Reserve

In mid-June we traveled to southern Idaho to check out City of Rocks National Reserve, and Virginia and Ben met us there!  Here are some pictures of the great time we had together.

The campsite
City of Rocks is cool, but my favorite part of the weekend was hanging out at the campsite with Jac, Virginia and Ben!

Exploring on eBikes:
This was our first time loading the eBikes on the truck and taking them on an adventure with us…and it worked!  Yippeee!  It was fun to ride around and explore on our bikes. We didn’t ride for long but it gave us a good feel for how having these bikes is just going to add to our adventures to come!

Exploring City of Rocks
Here are some general pictures taken during our time there.

Most people visit the monument for the rock climbing challenges, and we certainly saw A LOT of rock climbing during our visit. In the picture below, you can see a few little people attempting to climb that big rock outcropping. We even watched one person scale a rock just as high as this one WITH NO ROPES!

We saw livestock now and then grazing in the reserve:

And there are a number of historical sites to see as well. City of Rocks is situated on the old California Trail, so we saw artifacts like this old, authentic covered wagon:

plus several inscription rocks where pioneers carved their names as they passed en route to California:

And there were a few old buildings as well:

Our time in City of Rocks wasn’t long, but we had a really good time! I especially loved that I slept really well in our cozy little Tabin.  🙂

Another great Jac & Betsy adventure!
