March 2023 Happenings

HUGE Yard Project
After considering a bunch of options and discussing and planning for weeks, we decided on a backyard garden plan and we were off.  Weekend #1 was spent buying the materials:

and then preparing the ground with a big wooden box to contain the gravel, plus cardboard and plastic to kill the grass:

Then…the gravel came. LOTS of gravel. LOTS. In fact, this shown here is just one load!  There was more! It was LOTS and LOTS and LOTS of rocks to be moved!

But we did it, shovel by shovel, until the box was full and level:

…and ready for the cattle troughs, that will soon be painted, filled with dirt, and planted with all manner of delicious vegetables.  Go Team JB.  We killed it on our first big project together!

This was also the weekend that the first seeds of the year were started. This is just the start of many more to come.

Feeling pretty proud of ourselves, we got some Kentucky Fried Chicken to celebrate. Turns out it was less than celebratory.  Kinda meh. And now we know. 🙂
