July 2022 Happenings
First off…Jac got a new-to-him truck (and I am really, really going to try hard to stop calling it a car, because it’s a truck people. It’s not a car, it’s a truck.) He bought it from his work, and he got a screaming deal. Good job TRUCK owner!
Our First Bike Ride
At the beginning of the month, we finally took our bikes out for an inaugural ride…and we were relieved and delighted to discover that it was really fun. We might have a new hobby! We rode along the pretty, peaceful Jordan River Canal:
for about 5 miles and then turned around. We decided to start slow — no ‘centuries’ on our first time out. 🙂 Here we are on the trail — just two old people trying to figure out how to take a selfie:
Food from the Garden!
We also ate the first food from my garden (besides herbs) — this beautiful, fresh, miracle little yellow summer squash. So exciting!!! It’s actually working!!!
Fireworks
Jac put on a great show…and in the process taught grumpy me that fireworks are actually pretty cool if you are sitting right under them.
Look at all that he set off!!! (picture taken the next morning):
A Trip to McCall
In
mid-July, we drove up to McCall, Idaho, where Virginia and her husband
Ben live. Cindy and Jerry came along to, and we spent an unforgettable
week together in this charming, extremely scenic area of Idaho. You can read more about it by clicking here.
Socking Away Food
In July I became convinced (aka paranoid) that there’s going to be crazy inflation in the fall, so we spent one weekend in July hitting the stores big time. We spent $500 all together and now have full freezers and pantries. The sight of Jac’s freezer makes my heart happy. 🙂
And we turned more piles of herbs into yummy oil & herb freezer cubes for many delicious meals to come:
